As part of their expansion, our client is seeking an experienced Associate to join their London based Construction, Engineering & Projects team. This full-service team specializes in providing comprehensive legal support, from transactional guidance to dispute avoidance and resolution, for large-scale construction and engineering projects both in the UK and globally.
The team serves a diverse clientele across various sectors, focusing particularly on real estate developers, housebuilders, property investment firms, contractors, sub-contractors, and leading engineering consultancies. Their transactional services encompass advising on the procurement of construction projects, various domestic and international construction contracts, and related documents such as consultant appointments, trade contracts, collateral warranties, parent company guarantees, and performance bonds.
In terms of dispute resolution, the team offers strategic advice on all forms of dispute resolution methods, including adjudication, arbitration, litigation, mediation, and expert determination, ensuring clients achieve the most cost-effective resolutions while striving for optimal outcomes.
This role presents a unique opportunity to engage in a broad spectrum of both contentious and non-contentious work, with a notable increase in contentious matters.
Candidates with experience in UK adjudications and Technology and Construction Court Litigation are particularly encouraged to apply.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Representing a diverse array of national and international clients in intricate and high-stakes construction disputes, encompassing UK adjudications, arbitrations, and TCC litigation.
* Engaging in dispute advisory services, including alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation.
* Addressing a variety of issues, including final account and delay claims, quality of construction claims, construction insolvency, bond claims, ACM cladding, fire safety defect claims, professional indemnity, and other insurance-related matters.
* Providing guidance to government entities, sponsors, funders, developers, employers, operators, constructors, subcontractors, and professional teams on strategies for dispute avoidance and resolution, as well as project procurement methods, including facilities management.
* Fostering strong relationships with current clients, serving as a reliable advisor who delivers timely, high-quality counsel while effectively managing expectations.
* Collaborating as a unified team to handle large-scale, high-value client projects with the utmost excellence.
* Assisting in the drafting, negotiation, and advisory processes related to construction contracts, consultant appointments, collateral warranties, financial securities (such as bonds and guarantees), letters of intent, and reliance letters.
* Contributing to the collective knowledge, marketing efforts, and know-how initiatives of the group.
* Adhering to all applicable legal and regulatory requirements, including the standards and regulations set forth by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
Person Specification
* We are seeking a qualified solicitor in England & Wales or an equivalent jurisdiction, ideally with 3 to 6 years of PQE, who can integrate smoothly into our clients team.
* The ideal candidate will have experience in contentious construction issues, particularly in UK adjudications and TCC litigation.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as the role involves engaging with a diverse range of clients.
* The candidate should demonstrate excellent time management and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to foster effective working relationships at all levels, in line with the Firm’s culture and the existing team dynamics.
* The ability to work both independently and collaboratively is crucial, along with a flexible mindset and a readiness to exceed expectations.
* Experience in TCC cases concerning fire safety litigation would be a valuable asset.
