PHPRU is a Local Authority maintained school set across 6 small sites, providing high-quality assessment and education for young people aged 2 to 19 years, who have a range of disabilities and medical issues, from across the Wakefield Metropolitan District. Many of our pupils have complex needs including Autistic Spectrum Disorders, sensory impairment, challenging behaviour, and physical difficulties.
Due to opening another site at South Kirkby in September 2025, the Management Committee is seeking a caretaker to work across all sites, alongside our existing Premises Supervisor. We are looking for a friendly, proactive person who is reliable, hardworking, and well-organised, with the necessary skills to perform basic repairs and maintenance, awareness of Health & Safety, and Child Safeguarding.
Overall Purpose of the Post: To take responsibility for the maintenance, cleanliness, and security of the school sites.
Successful candidates will work a 37-hour week, Monday to Friday, full year round.

* Ensure compliance across all sites (buildings and vehicles).
* Undertake basic repairs and maintenance and liaise with other agencies, when necessary, to source additional support and relevant quotes.
* Conduct necessary regular checks of the school fleet of vehicles.
* Participate as a team member in the operation, promotion, and development of PHPRU.
* Support safeguarding in school.
* Have a can-do attitude, sense of humour, and enjoy working with children and young people.
