Main duties of the job To provide high quality, patient focused service for orthopaedic patients, both within the department and throughout the hospital as required. To ensure keeps updated with current practices within casting, plastering and orthotics and is able to actively use research as appropriate. Develop and maintain a cohesive multi - disciplinary team (MDT). Building relationships with, communicating with and functioning effectively with the MDT. Independently managing own time, planning and prioritising workload effectively. Contribute to the design and implementation of a comprehensive casting training program for trainee plaster technicians, in preparation for them to undertake the British Casting Certificate, and the wider multidisciplinary team within orthopaedics, including students and registered professionals working within the trust. Participation in annual staff appraisal. Lead and develop a plaster room outreach service, liaising with wards, paediatric clinics, theatres, emergency department to ensure patients in all areas of the trust receive safe and effective care with regards to their casting/splinting.
