Job Purpose
The role of the fitter is to carry out mandatory services and associated repairs.
Key Responsibilities & Activities
1. Responsible for ensuring your own health and safety and that of others and promoting a positive health and safety culture within the workplace.
2. Ensure all health and safety obligations are met, and company policies are adhered to.
3. Report any safety concerns, hazard observations, accidents, and incidents by the end of that shift to allow full investigation and prevent re-occurrence.
4. Ensure activities and associated actions and measures taken do not endanger but assist with the upkeep and maintaining the company’s ISO (9001, 14001, and 45001) standards and certification.
5. To have a good understanding of vehicle mechanical interfaces and repairs of vehicle components.
6. To be able to install/repair hydraulic systems.
7. Previous engine knowledge would be advantageous.
8. To overhaul raft components.
9. To be able to understand schematic drawings.
10. To undertake training as and when required.
11. To work within a realistic timeframe.
12. To mentor trainees/apprentices when applicable.
13. To ensure that waste is disposed of in the correct manner.
14. To adhere to written or verbal instructions.

Job Requirements
Normal basic working hours are 44 hours per week.
Based at Barton, Burton Upon Trent.
Person Specification
1. HGV/Heavy Plant Fitting experience required.
2. The ability to work within a changing environment with deadlines and short lead times.
3. To adhere always to the company’s Health, Safety & Environmental instructions and requirements.
4. Take on any other reasonable responsibilities or tasks that are within the employee's skills and abilities.
Qualifications/Education Required:
Recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ Level 3.
Previous experience in rail or automotive industry.
