VEHICLE MECHANIC

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintaining and repairing company or government vehicles.
2. Completing maintenance tickets and repair orders in a timely manner.
3. Dispose of waste materials by regulations and policies/procedures.
4. Inspects, diagnoses, and isolates vehicle and equipment malfunctions; troubleshoots, traces, and locates defects and/or causes of mechanical problems to determine type and extent of necessary repairs.
5. Repairs lighting systems, sirens, wheel bearings, radiators, heating and air-conditioning systems, springs, hydraulic systems, catalytic converters, and fuel pumps.
6. Utilizes on-board computer diagnostic systems and other test equipment in order to test automotive computer control and emission systems; assesses and analyzes malfunctions of machinery using microcomputers, calipers, gauges, and other equipment.
7. Removes, replaces, adjusts, or cleans defective parts or components.
8. Flushes radiators and replaces anti-freeze solutions.
9. Performs oil changes, checks fluids, diagnoses tread wear, replaces batteries, and troubleshoots problems. Performs engine tune-ups. Repairs automotive locks.
10. Utilizes appropriate techniques and procedures in accordance with manufacturer's specifications in armoring vehicles as directed.
11. Estimates cost and labor time for corrective repairs.
12. Responds to emergency road calls for disabled vehicles and makes minor adjustments or has the vehicle towed for repairs.
13. Road tests vehicles during and occasionally upon completion of maintenance/repair work.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. UK citizenship.
2. High school diploma, technical school, apprenticeship, trade school graduate, or equivalent required.
3. 2-5 years of experience in the problem diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a wide variety of light, medium, heavy and/or specialized automotive equipment, other heavy equipment, and vehicles.
4. 2 years of experience maintaining special purpose-type vehicles.
5. Completed training in Vehicle Maintenance or related field from military technical school or an accredited technical school/college/university.
6. Ability to research and understand technical data, wiring, vacuum, air, and hydraulic diagrams associated with the vehicle maintenance field.
7. Knowledge of the operating systems used in motor vehicles and equipment.
8. Knowledge of the practices and tools used in the maintenance and diagnostics of vehicles.
9. Knowledge of computer, electrical, transistorized, and other non-mechanical systems and how they tie-in with and affect the operation of mechanical systems.
10. Considerable knowledge of the standard tools, equipment, test procedures, and practices used in the repair and preventative maintenance of vehicles.
11. Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
12. Ability to diagnose mechanical and related malfunctions/read technical manuals, references, and specifications/operate a forklift, power tools, wrenches, diagnostic equipment, and jacks/prioritize and schedule multiple tasks.
