Road & Rail National Operator Location: Lichfield Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week, 0730 – 1600 Monday to Friday About the position: The purpose of the Road & Rail National Operator is to manage the outbound day to day groupage routes and adhere to various Network duties as outlined below. Whilst the Operator will have a responsibility for Network they will also be required to provide cover in other areas of the department when required. Key Tasks and Responsibilities will include: Arrange National deliveries and collections using approved suppliers available. Book deliveries with customers ensuring text codes are updated accordingly and additional costs are passed to the relevant operator. Manage and maintain all relevant records for the national network, inc. pallet networks, parcel carriers etc. including status’s, pods, booking information etc. Track shipment progress and to take appropriate remedial actions if they are not running to the planned time. Ensure that consignments are routed in a cost effective way, whilst adhering to expected transit times. Deal with all supplier/internal queries professionally and efficiently both on email and via telephone. Use of National Suppliers Agreements and rates Status Management – working from both the SAE report and Hellas reporting options, updating consignment status’s within the measured time constraints given by System Alliance and any Partner SLA. Arrange service upgrades Re-allocate collections and deliveries as and where needed. Liaise with the warehouse team, and other departments in a polite and professional manner. Solving any issues arising during the day and escalating to Warehouse Supervisor and/or First Line Manager if necessary. Check all shipment documentation, including hazardous paperwork, escalate any discrepancies with our onsite DGSA. Reviewing the stock check and taking appropriate action. Use of suppliers portals for messages, status, etc. Spotting and developing additional revenue opportunities, including European Shipments. Daily maintenance of files ensuring all documentation is filed accurately. Process the Goods On Dock reports, scan back relevant collections Processing EDI’s accurately and effectively as and when required Deal with re-routes and crossed labelled freight Deal with collection queries including cancelling or updating on the relevant system When applicable raise/process price amendment requests for all National suppliers, liaising with relevant departments and recording the details. Ensure that the failure log for National collections and deliveries is kept up to date and accurate at all times. Be proactive and supportive when dealing with all enquiries, ensuring all options available are explored and presented. Work on providing cost effective solutions to ensure customer satisfaction and continuity of service. Including when a customer’s requirements fall outside of usual services provided About you: The ideal candidate will be educated in Maths and English (oral and written) to GCSE, Standard Grade or equivalent; grade A-C and be able to demonstrate highly competent computer skills in all areas of Microsoft office. High level of accuracy with attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Ability to work effectively under own initiative. Competent in commercial IT packages including Word, Excel Hard working, diligent with a flexible adaptable approach. Good team player. Good written and verbal communication skills Salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
