Ward 2 WGH is a subacute step down ward specialising in joint gastroenterology and respiratory medicine, treating both male and female adult patients with acute medical conditions.
Our staff nurses provide a high-quality service in a safe environment where the needs of each patient are cared for in a professional and holistic manner by using all available specialist knowledge and skills. The wellbeing of all our patients relies on appropriate and timely assessment, investigation, treatment, and care.

The post is fully rotational days/nights and covers seven days a week.
1st Level live NMC registration is required for this role.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a dynamic nursing team delivering all aspects of care to the patients.
You will have the opportunity to develop in this specialised field as well as continuing development as a Band 5. We have a specific focus on complex discharge planning and you will work closely with members of the MDT to ensure safe and timely discharges across the ward. There are a huge range of learning opportunities available.

Job responsibilities
To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the ward team under the direction of the Ward Manager. To be responsible for the organising and co-ordination of nursing services in the ward/dept in the absence of senior staff on a regular basis. To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct. To be responsible for all nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards. To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables, and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams/departments and across organisational boundaries.

* Evidence of qualification to undertake the supervision, teaching, and assessing of students (essential requirement for post, expectation this will be completed within an 18-month period).
