£23,867.25 per year plus 28.68% pension contribution
We currently have a vacancy for a permanent, salaried peripatetic Piano Teacher working both during school hours and after school hours on weekdays and Saturday mornings based in north and west Surrey.
Employer: Surrey County Council
Location: Surrey Arts Main Office, 14 The Pines, Broad St, Guildford, Surrey, GU3 3BH
Contract Type: Part-Time Permanent
Closing Date: 24th March 2025 at 23:59
This is an exciting opportunity for a Piano Teacher to join our talented team of experienced and committed teaching staff. Across 33 weeks of the academic year, you will deliver high quality and innovative music education to children and adults at various schools and venues around the county. The ability to add singing as an additional offer would be helpful for this role, but not essential.
You will join a team dedicated to “changing lives through world class arts.” Surrey Arts is an ambitious and forward-thinking organisation that places young people at the centre of our work. We are committed to developing Surrey Arts as a genuinely inclusive organisation, and one that meets the needs of the whole diverse community of Surrey.
The advertised salary is based on delivering one to one and small group music tuition. Should activities that attract a higher rate of pay be delivered (e.g. whole class teaching or ensemble lead), the annual salary will be increased in accordance with Surrey Arts Teacher Pay Scales.
The hours advertised may be subject to change due to small fluctuations in demand. After the first four months of employment, the annual salary will be adjusted accordingly to reflect actual hours worked.
Teaching takes place during the school day, after school and at the weekend, at various schools and music centres in Surrey. You will therefore need to have the willingness and ability to travel around the county to meet the demands of the role.
How to Apply
To apply, alongside your CV, you will be asked to answer the following questions:
1. How does your knowledge, skills and experience demonstrate that you are a competent/proficient musician?
2. Please describe your approach to planning and delivering one to one and small group music lessons.
3. Please tell us about your experience of working with children and young people in a school, youth or community setting and the technology you have used in these settings to inspire learning.
4. How do you/would you ensure that all children and young people you work with are engaged and reach their full potential?
5. Please give a specific anonymised example of how you have built positive relationships with students and/or colleagues.
Our aim is to increase people's interest and participation in the arts throughout Surrey.
