An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6, Registered Research Practitioner (1 WTE) to join the Research Development and Innovation Team at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (MWL). We would welcome applications from registered nurses, midwives, AHP’s or CRP’s.
The role is a temporary contact for 1 year. Secondments will also be considered for this post.

You need to have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work as part of a team whilst also holding your own workload and research study portfolio, this will include setting up and managing commercial and non-commercial studies.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and have an organised and methodical approach to their work load.

Our Services:
Acute Care
Providing emergency and maternity services at Whiston, Southport and Ormskirk hospitals, and medical and surgical specialties across all our sites.
Primary Care
Providing primary care services at Marshalls Cross Medical Centre situated in St Helens Hospital.
Community Services
Providing adult community services for St Helens and a wheelchair service in Chorley, South Ribble, and West Lancashire. Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation, freeing up space for more unwell patients. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.
Specialist Regional Services
We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

1. To co-ordinate all designated clinical research studies as directed by lead clinician to ensure recruitment targets are met.
2. To identify, screen, interview patients and recruit them into the appropriate studies.
3. To assist the principal investigator in the informed consent process, ensuring the subject in fully informed prior to participation to the study.
4. To co-ordinate and carry out patient visits in accordance with study protocols, including coordinating special tests in other departments, collection of data, coding, data entry and patient support.
5. To carry out treatment procedures and treatment interventions according to pre-determined protocols, including venepuncture, venous cannulation, administering of intra-venous drugs and vital sign recording.
6. To carry out the collection, processing and shipping of biological specimens according to protocol requirements and follow up appropriately on alert values.
7. To be involved in the education of patients and their various aspects of their disease.
