This job posting is for a Junior Clinical Fellow in Psychiatry at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust in Croydon.
The post seeks four successful candidates who will be assigned to one of two rotations that consist of an inpatient post and a community post. Candidates will rotate between the two posts, working six months in each over a year.

* Position: Fixed-term, full-time (9am-5pm, Monday to Friday) with optional on-call rota.
* Rotations: One year split between an inpatient post and a community post (six months each).
* Inpatient Role: Work on acute psychiatric wards (Gresham 1 and Gresham 2) at Bethlem Royal Hospital.
* Community Role: Work with Croydon Central Locality and Croydon Central A and L teams.
* Team Composition: Multidisciplinary teams including doctors, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, and psychologists.
* Opportunities: Develop skills in assessment, care, and treatment of vulnerable patients, dynamic risk assessment, and working with acutely disturbed patients.
* Professional Development: Two sessions for supporting professional activities per week, equivalent to 1 day, where successful candidates can pursue an interest in psychiatry, be it research, teaching, specialist clinical experiences, psychotherapy experience or other projects.
Main duties of the job
Clinical responsibilities
* Review and Management of inpatients/team caseload and day-to-day workload of the service.
* Attending ward rounds/team meetings/CPA Meetings.
* Carrying out risk assessments and formulating appropriate risk management plans.
* Formulating care plans.
* Physical health monitoring of patients - including carrying out physical examination and investigations as appropriate.
* Liaising with GP's and various other professionals/teams within and outside SLAM including with Social services, DVLA, and the Voluntary sector.
* Attending external patient meetings as appropriate.
* Making safeguarding referrals.
* Record keeping - including preparing reports/letters, discharge notifications/summaries and ensuring that all the relevant information gathered by you following patient contact is recorded clearly in the trust's electronic notes (EPJS) and elsewhere as appropriate.
* 8 Programmed Activities per week will be devoted to Direct Clinical Care and 2 SPAs to Supporting Professional Activity.

Person Specification
Essential and Desirable
Essential
* Fully Registered Medical Practitioner with Licence to Practice in the UK.
* Experience of working in the NHS for at least two years or any non-NHS medical work with a separate postgraduate degree in a relevant subject.
* Excellent communication skills.
Desirable
* Experience in psychiatric settings.
* Experience of being involved in management and Quality Improvement activities.
* Experience of teaching undergraduate medical students and staff of other disciplines.
* Research experience within medicine.
