Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) are looking for a dynamic, organised and efficient Band 6 Practice Nurse who will be working within our Primary Healthcare team at RAF Benson, Wallingford. This is part of the Benson Group practice where there may be the requirement to work from the Satellite clinic at Abingdon.
Due to the nature of the business, it is essential that you have prior experience of primary healthcare. Please see attached Job Description and Person Specification for more information.

Main duties of the job
We are searching for someone who is able to work unsupervised, providing high-quality nursing care to the medical facility population at risk holding an individual case load, and through consultation identify, assess, diagnose and manage the care of patients with complex health needs, minor injuries, minor illnesses, and specific diseases within their level of competence.
Many of our practice sites are networked and linked to provide support to each other. On occasion within your planned working schedule, you may be requested to work at the linked practice site. In these situations, travel time and cost will be allowed for.
Job responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Providing specialist high-quality person-centred primary care which always considers people's safety, privacy and dignity using high quality clinical knowledge that is evidence-based, with use of core healthcare guidelines.
* Being responsible for the delivery of appropriate treatment, screening and advice to patients within their professional competence and in accordance with DPHC clinical guidelines and protocols.
* Providing expert clinical advice, leadership and support ensuring the needs of the service are met by exercising and demonstrating high levels of clinical judgement, critical analysis and decision-making skills.
* Undertaking technical nursing treatments and procedures for patient's complex/specialist healthcare needs (e.g. wound care, sutures removal, ECGs, cytology, audiometry and ear care).

The sift will be completed within 5 working days of the vacancy closing date. Interviews will be held on a date to be confirmed.
The interview will consist of a pre-planned presentation of 20 minutes, based on the Key Skills Framework (KSF) above - questions will be shared with sifted candidates; and a mix of direct questions and clinical situation based on scenarios.
There will be no reimbursement for any travel expenses for the interview.

Person Specification
Registration & Memberships
* Registered Nurse with current, unrestricted registration on Nursing & Midwifery Council Register.
Qualifications
* Professional and specialist knowledge in primary healthcare acquired through post graduate degree/diploma or actively working towards this OR can demonstrate equivalent level of competence and experience. In date Basic Life Support (BLS), Anaphylaxis, Automated External Defibrillation (AED), Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), Safeguarding Level 3 (Children and Adult); willingness to fulfil training updates as required.
Experience
* Experienced and competent in history taking and physical assessment and the triage & treatment of minor injury/illness, immunisation, venepuncture, ear care, audiology, travel medicine, wound care, cervical screening; willingness to undertake specific training to fulfil competency for role and DPHC/MOD training as required. Supporting Learning and Assessing with experience providing mentorship and/or coaching to other staff.

Additional Requirements
* A valid full UK driving licence due to travel between practices.

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 a year (Pro-rata for part time)
