Overview of role
The Social Infrastructure team at Mott MacDonald delivers a range of meaningful projects to support vulnerable communities across the UK, relating to key policies in areas such as social care, early years, and health.
You’ll be part of a team that oversees every aspect of the project life cycle, from concept and definition to implementation and handover. Our project managers also provide consultancy services to our clients, making the work varied and stimulating.
Reporting to a Project Principal, you will manage projects or workstreams on major infrastructure projects or national programmes. This opportunity will enable you to support the development of this growing and diverse business whilst progressing your own career. The focus of this exciting new role and opportunity is to help build the growing business and to support our Clients by winning and delivering high-quality project and programme management services that contribute to society and make the communities in which we live and work better.
Candidate Specification
* Degree aligned with Social Infrastructure markets (health, education, social care) and/or equivalent project management experience with sufficient expertise and ability to function and be recognised as a professional in chosen field.
* Membership of the APM
* Track record of achievement and innovation, delivering complex projects or new services
* Project management expertise, from the early stages of the project lifecycle, through to procurement and delivery
* Project management experience across a range of disciplines, including contract and procurement, able to provide specialist, high-level advice to more junior staff
* Experience of working for / with Client organisations would be an advantage
* Experience in administering contracts
* Strong client and stakeholder relationship building skills, with client-facing accountability and delivery of outputs
* Effective communication with clients, project teams, and business managers
* High degree of commercial acumen and knowledge of planning and project controls
* Capable of working with little or no supervision on complex and non-standard assignments
* Ability to create an enjoyable and fulfilling work environment
* Excellent written and oral communication
* Able to foster and promote collaborative working within and across Mott MacDonald and with Clients
* Evidence of well-developed external professional network
* Experiencing in managing and supervising work of professionally qualified staff
* Ability to operate both autonomously and as a part of a larger team
* Proven skills in Word/Excel/PowerPoint and experience of wider products such as PowerBI and other digital and data-related solutions

APD delivers services to projects ranging in scale and complexity up to £20bn, through the technical disciplines of programme management, project management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting, and education, health and care management.
Social Infrastructure
Our Social Infrastructure portfolio is primarily a UK-based business working in key sectors of education, public health, and social care. Our work stretches from running training courses attended by individual teachers through to managing the £19m Adoption Support Fund on behalf of the government.
We support local authorities, central government organisations, and health and social care providers improve service quality, meet increasing demand, and deliver better outcomes for communities.
