Job Title: Maternity Nurse/Nanny Location: Kings Cross, London, N1C Start Date: 11 August 2025 (estimated baby due date) Contract: 2-3 months contract Hours: 24/6 initially moving onto 24/5 Job Overview A professional, experienced, and qualified Maternity Nurse is required to support a family in Kings Cross, London, N1C, for their first baby, expected in early August 2025. The role involves providing 24-hour care, six days a week initially, then moving to five days a week. The successful candidate will ensure both the baby and parents receive expert guidance and assistance in the early weeks of parenthood. The ideal candidate must possess considerable experience in newborn care and be able to provide evidence-based advice, practical support, and a reassuring presence. Key Responsibilities Provide round-the-clock care for the newborn, including feeding, changing, settling, and establishing sleep routines. Assist and guide the parents in all aspects of newborn care, including breastfeeding support, bottle preparation, and sterilisation. Implement and encourage healthy sleep patterns and routines suited to the family’s preferences. Monitor the baby’s health, development, and well-being, promptly identifying any potential concerns. Offer emotional and practical support to the mother, especially in postpartum recovery and well-being. Maintain a clean, safe, and organised environment for the baby, ensuring all baby-related tasks are managed efficiently. Work in alignment with the family’s preferences, routines, and parenting styles. Flexibility to extend the contract beyond six weeks if required. Requirements & Qualifications Qualified Maternity Nurse (Norland, or equivalent recognised qualification in newborn care). Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a Maternity Nurse with checkable references. Up-to-date Enhanced DBS check and Paediatric First Aid certification. Discreet, professional, and highly trustworthy. Ability to work long shifts with a calm and positive attitude. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience supporting first-time parents and the ability to educate and empower them. Extensive knowledge of newborn care, feeding, sleep training, and postnatal recovery.
