Deputy Pharmacy Operational Manager (Pharmacy Technician) Band 7
The pharmacy service at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust has a high profile and is well integrated into multi-disciplinary teams, providing a much valued contribution to patient care. This is an exciting time for our Pharmacy Department as we continue to improve and develop our pharmacy services.
As a key member of the pharmacy department, the post holder will work closely with the Pharmacy Operations Manager in the delivery, organisation and management of a safe and effective pharmacy service supporting the coordination of all the pharmacy services. The post holder will have direct responsibility for the Dispensary and ward based medicines management service.
The role requires excellent leadership and organisational skills, a customer-centred compassionate approach, strong communication and influencing skills, resilience, and an ability to secure engagement from staff and service users.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
* Support the Pharmacy Operations Manager in leading and managing the pharmacy services.
* Have direct responsibility for leading, developing and organising the dispensary and ward-based medicines management service in conjunction with the Lead Pharmacy Technicians.
* Be the lead for education & training for the NVQ L2 and NVQ L3.
* Work closely with the Pharmacy Operational Manager and the Pharmacy Leadership Team in strategic and operational business planning, implementation and monitoring, promoting a collaborative culture, embedding effective leadership, and supporting the Trust's governance framework and transformation agenda.

Person Specification
Knowledge & Skills
* Effective verbal and written communication skills
* Methodical with effective organisational skills in the workplace. Able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
* Ability to supervise the work of junior staff and provide constructive feedback on performance
* Able to present written information clearly, concisely and accurately
* Pride in establishing and maintaining high standards of work and have attention to detail
* Good analytical and evaluative skills
* Broad understanding of current hospital pharmacy practice
Experience
* Previous experience within a senior pharmacy technician role with extensive managerial experience of managing staff and a technical service within a hospital setting
* Experience of successful operational staff deployment, prioritisation, managing rotas, and adapting working patterns to align with service need
* Educational supervisor for NVQ L2 or NVQ L3
* Experience of using ePortfolios
* Experience of leading and managing
* Significant experience of working in hospital pharmacy
* Experience of training staff, compliance with training targets and competency assessment
Qualifications
* BTEC National in Pharmaceutical Science, NVQ L3 or Equivalent
* Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Evidence of CPD Accredited checking qualification
* Ability to deal confidently and directly with the public, clinicians, members of the healthcare team and pharmacy colleagues
* Ability to work in a busy environment and to remain calm, positive and assertive under pressure
* Ability to work with other colleagues effectively as part of a team
