Role: Printing Supervisor (Print Operations) Location: Biggleswade, Bedfordshire Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 p.a. - DOE Department Traditional & Digital Printing Reports To General Manager Direct Reports Print Operatives Job Description The role of Printing Supervisor / Print Operations Team Leader will be to manage the operation, production plan and order throughput within the Traditional & Digital Print departments, ensuring that all orders are produced on-time and in full, in accordance with approved customer specifications, and to the highest quality standards. The position will be an important bridge between the Printing Operatives and the General Manager ensuring that the right people can focus on the right tasks and to find the balance between the day-to-day production requirements, R&D, and NPI work demands, ensuring full customer satisfaction across all facets. It will actively support the development and skill base of the printing operatives, as well as the technical recording of production specifications and routes. This is a hands-on role with a requirement to both manage the production team, and directly produce orders where capacity constraints and order volume demand it as our industry often requires expedited lead-times. The suitable candidate will have a working knowledge and direct experience in screen printing, pad printing and digital printing, and an ability to problem solve in a bespoke product manufacturing environment The successful candidate will drive and support efficient, repeatable and high-quality production with timely delivery to both external customers and inter-company operations. This is a pivotal role in the company and will play a key part in its future long-term success. Responsibilities Schedule production orders to achieve required delivery dates. Monitor staff levels and ensure they are appropriate for the open order book. Communicate to the General Manager of any production delays or issues. Liaise with Purchasing Department on materials, consumables or sub-contracted requirements ensuring suitable and timely availability for orders. Work closely with other production departments where products move through multiple departments. Protect profit margins by reducing lead-times, minimising setups and reducing fallout. Coach and develop the skill base of Printing Operatives allowing them to work more independently. Work with the technical administration team to document and maintain production specifications. Support preventative maintenance of equipment. Improve housekeeping, develop 5S within department, and challenge the production flow. Use Microsoft Dynamics to pull sales and production requirements. Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety regulations and policies. Requirements Proven experience with screen printing, pad printing and digital printing. Ability to setup production jobs and problem solve. Literate in MS Office 365 including Word, Excel, Teams and SharePoint. Excellent planning and scheduling ability. Strong communication skills. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics would be an advantage. Experience with Vacuum Forming also an advantage.
