Become a Trustee for Been There – Make a Difference
Remote with occasional in-person meetings.
Been There is a growing UK charity that connects individuals with trained volunteer mentors to support them through body image challenges and eating disorders. Longer term the vision is to unlock the powerful role peer support can play across the nation. As the charity grows, they plan to expand the offering to support people struggling with other challenges including, for example anxiety, OCD, depression, and grief.
We are seeking dedicated Trustees to join the Board and help shape the future. As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in shaping the strategy, ensuring compliance, and supporting the charity's growth. This is a hands-on role for individuals ready to bring their skills and passion to a growing organisation.
We are particularly looking for individuals with expertise in:
* General Business & Strategy - Ideally with C-Suite experience
* Treasury – Ensuring financial sustainability, overseeing budgets, and supporting fundraising efforts. Ideally an accountant by background with experience of Xero and charity accounting.
* Income generation – Ensuring growth and long term financial sustainability by driving income generation strategy. Ideally with experience of one or more of the following: philanthropy, corporate giving, trusts and foundations, community fundraising, events, legacy giving and commissioning.
* Clinical – Bringing clinical experience and expertise as a consultant psychiatric or psychologist within an acute NHS Trust and or Community Service. Ideally experience or active interest in Peer to Peer Services.
* Research & Evaluation – Bringing knowledge and experience in mental health research and/or service evaluations. Ideally with a track-record of published research of Peer to Peer services or
* Safeguarding – Protecting the well-being of the charity’s volunteer mentors and service users
* Technology/Digital – Driving innovation and digital growth. Ideally CTO experience and/or expertise in information governance and cybersecurity.
We welcome applicants with relevant experience who are eager to contribute beyond board meetings and help develop a strong and sustainable foundation.
This is a voluntary position and will require a commitment of 5-6 hours per month.
