Role
The team has evolved over the last few years to incorporate all SPEN's community-based funding activity, including the Net Zero Fund launched in 2023. The team is also responsible for developing the Community Benefits offering, expected to be established in the next year.
SP Energy Networks' (SPEN) £5 million Transmission Net Zero Fund helps vulnerable communities who face barriers in participating in the Net Zero transition. The fund, designed based on community needs, supports community organisations and not-for-profit organisations with their decarbonisation ambitions, operating in three phases: providing information, feasibility support, and funding. With over £1 million granted so far, the fund enables community groups to deliver projects that drive decarbonisation in their area.
Responsibilities will include supporting the Community Benefits Manager with the effective day-to-day administration of the fund, including promoting projects and delivering necessary stakeholder engagement.
As our Project Office Coordinator, you will:
* Have good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to form effective working relationships.
* Have proven ability to work in a team environment.
* Be ideally educated to degree level in a relevant business discipline or have relevant business experience.
* Be proficient in IT, predominantly Windows and Microsoft packages.
* Have skills in using financial management packages such as SAP.
What You ll Be Doing
You will support the Community Benefits Manager in managing the scheme, including:
* Building a close working relationship with the external administrator, Energy Savings Trust.
* Assisting in organising ad hoc funding rounds, including establishing panel meetings.
* Responding to enquiries regarding the Net Zero Fund with accurate and prompt responses.
* Working with legal resources to prepare and issue contracts for each NZF project.
* Processing payment milestones for projects and ensuring payments align with project plans.
* Supporting procurement requirements for the fund, including timely payments and recording spend.
* Logging and tracking projects, capturing key stakeholders, and ensuring milestones are met.
* Preparing packs for governance, panel sessions, or events.
* Providing forecasts of NZF anticipated spend and costs.
* Building knowledge of each project and visiting them to understand outcomes.
* Ensuring a clear stakeholder strategy aligns with the company's Stakeholder Engagement strategy.
* Working with an external PR agency to develop and implement a communications plan.
* Managing all Net Zero Fund internal communications, including newsletters and web content.
* Facilitating messaging for social media communications across multiple channels.
* Assisting with the delivery of Net Zero Fund events, including logistics and guest lists.
What You ll Bring
* Project delivery background and previous relevant experience.
* An understanding of the UK utilities market.
* In-depth knowledge of SP Energy Networks business activities.
* Ability to generate innovative solutions in a regulatory context.
* Understanding of stakeholder mapping.
* Experience in external and internal communications is desirable.
* Creative problem solver with understanding of complex regulated businesses.
* High verbal reasoning, comprehension, and numeric skills.
* Excellent team working skills.
