Pastoral Care Worker
Teaching Personnel in partnership with a specialist provision in Burnley are looking to hire a pastoral support worker to provide further support on both a 1:1 and small group basis. This role is due to start in March and would be required until the end of the academic year. The successful individual will work with pupils to manage their behaviour by providing them with coping mechanisms and activities to promote a calm and respectful environment where they feel safe and nurtured whilst in school.
The role
As a pastoral care worker, you will support students who require additional assistance for their overall development, including academically, socially, and emotionally. These students are vulnerable and require a nurturing, safe environment to become confident and further their independence. You may be required to be in close contact with pupils’ family members and other outside agencies to provide a full support system around them. You will need to differentiate your planning, teaching, and activities to meet the needs of each pupil you are supporting, as they will all have different needs and coping mechanisms. Support may extend beyond the school setting, including providing family members with strategies to implement outside of school to ensure consistency in routines and strategies.
