ROLE: Deputy Head Dental Nurse
We are excited to announce a vacancy for a full time Deputy Head Dental Nurse. Our dental practice is a well-regarded multidisciplinary practice located in Stourbridge (10 minutes from Birmingham), offering a wide range of dental treatments with a focus on providing the highest standards of patient care. We are expanding our team and are currently seeking a highly motivated Deputy Head Dental Nurse to assist in the leadership of our nursing team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced dental nurse looking to take the next step in their career and support the Head Dental Nurse in running a smooth, patient-focused operation.
Role Overview: As the Deputy Head Dental Nurse, you will be responsible for supporting the Head Dental Nurse in leading and managing the nursing team, ensuring all clinical and administrative compliance procedures and policies are followed, and maintaining a high level of care throughout the practice. You will also provide chairside assistance to dentists and specialists when required, ensuring patients are well cared for during their treatment.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Support: Assist the Head Dental Nurse in supervising, mentoring, and training the nursing team. Step in as acting Head Nurse when required.
2. Chairside Assistance: Provide chairside support to dentists and hygienists during a range of dental treatments, ensuring the highest level of clinical care.
3. Patient Care: Maintain a high standard of patient care, ensuring that patients feel comfortable and supported during their treatment.
4. Stock Management: Assist in managing stock levels, ensuring that the surgery is well equipped, and orders are placed in a timely manner.
5. Compliance and Record-Keeping: Ensure the nursing team adheres to health and safety, infection control, and compliance regulations, including accurate record-keeping.
6. Sterilization and Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the sterilization of instruments and the maintenance of dental equipment to ensure efficient workflow.
7. Diary and Treatment Coordination: Support the dental team by coordinating appointments and treatment schedules as needed, ensuring an efficient and effective use of the surgery time.
8. Team Collaboration: Work closely with dentists, specialists, and other team members to maintain a professional and smooth-running practice.
Skills and Experience Required:
1. Qualified Dental Nurse: Fully qualified and registered with the General Dental Council (GDC).
2. Experience: A minimum of 5 years experience in a dental nursing role.
3. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, supervise, and motivate a team of dental nurses, ensuring the smooth running of daily operations.
4. Strong Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively liaise with staff, patients, and other healthcare professionals.
5. Organizational Skills: Highly organized with the ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
6. Compliance Knowledge: A strong understanding of infection control protocols, CQC requirements, and dental compliance standards.
7. Positive Attitude: A team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving and maintaining a positive working environment.
8. IT Proficiency: Competent in using dental software and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Previous experience as a senior or deputy nurse in a dental practice is preferred.
* Familiarity with dental software systems such as Exact, Software of Excellence, or similar is desirable.
Hours & Package:
Hours: 37-38 hours per week (full-time).
Mon-Wednesday 8.15am-4.45pm (lunch 1pm-1.30pm).
Thursday 8.15am-6.45pm (lunch 1pm-1:30pm).
Friday 8.15am-1pm.
Salary: up to £14/hour, depending on experience.

Work Location: In person, Stourbridge. Applicants must reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.
