Aspiring Occupational Therapist

We are looking for a dedicated Aspiring Occupational Therapist to support children with moderate learning difficulties and additional mental health needs. This school is based in Hailsham and caters to children aged 4-16, specializing in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) to provide exceptional education and extra help for traumatized children and young people.
You will be helping children who come from trauma or neglected backgrounds, exhibit challenging behavior, have ADHD or Autism, and have developed mental health issues due to their needs, requiring additional support to improve their social, emotional, and mental well-being.

Responsibilities of an Aspiring Occupational Therapist:
1. Assist the class teacher in providing the learning experience for students.
2. Ability to perform conflict resolution and de-escalation.
3. Provide behavior and pastoral support.
4. Take an active role in forward planning with therapists.
5. Adopt a practical approach to meet the individual needs of students.
6. Willingness to work 1:1 and in small groups with students.
7. Ensure the safeguarding of students in line with procedures.
8. Attend staff meetings and complete appropriate Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Requirements of an Aspiring Occupational Therapist:
1. Exhibit patience and understanding.
2. Have an understanding of challenging behavior.
3. Be adaptable in any given situation.
4. Ability to develop trusting and positive relationships with students.
