As Director, you will be responsible for ensuring our Outstanding Families and Children’s services support the council’s vision, values, and objectives. You will lead the development, delivery, and ongoing review of the Families and Children’s strategy and roadmap, driving the culture of continuous improvement. This includes everything from early support and statutory services, our Integrated Front Door (MASH) through to adoption. We are looking for someone who is forward-thinking, focused on performance outcomes, and has a practical but strategic results-driven approach. You should already be working at a senior level in Families and Children’s services, with a proven record of leading strategic development and delivering successful programmes in a large organisation. You must have strong technical expertise in all areas of social work. We are looking for someone who focuses on delivering excellent outcomes for children, partnership working and innovation. We are looking for someone who is proactive, confident, and decisive in a fast-paced environment. You will need to be skilled at prioritising effectively, offering strategic guidance, and inspiring confidence in others. Demonstrating integrity, you will lead the directorate through change while ensuring the right skills are in place to meet the needs of children, manage performance and secure outstanding outcomes. You will also need to navigate the political landscape with a high level of awareness and work closely with the leadership team as part of a "One Council" approach. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of creativity and innovation, with clear examples of successful leadership and achievements, particularly in collaboration with partners and systems. They will also bring experience in working across education and transformation, with a strong emphasis on cross-service collaboration. Why us?
