Position Overview: Reporting to the R&D Project Manager, the candidate will be part of a highly skilled team delivering products to the telecom/datacom monitoring, test/measurement and transport segments. A self-starter who can work with minimal supervision, the candidate will be part of the team responsible for the development of new FPGA centric products in close collaboration with our VHDL designers. Responsibilities: Design of new electronics from concept through to manufacturing Work with the business development team to understand the requirements for new designs and enhancements Perform schematic capture and PCB layout for new designs Select appropriate components for designs, considering performance, cost, and availability Design verification of new PCBs and systems using a range of standard lab equipment (multi-meters, oscilloscopes etc) Actively engaging in peer design reviews within the HW team Collaborate with mechanical, firmware and software engineers to integrate hardware designs into products Work with operations engineers to release detailed design packs to manufacturing Work with manufacturing and software engineers to help develop production test solutions Basic Qualifications: Qualified to degree level in Electronic Engineering or equivalent discipline 5 years of relevant work experience Previous experience designing with Altera or Xilinx FPGAs Ability to comply with the UK GOV National Security Vetting Procedures (see link below) https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/united-kingdom-security-vetting Preferred Qualifications: Experience with the Cadence Allegro/OrCAD toolset Experience of high-speed SERDES interfaces (28G and 56G PAM4) Understanding of high current DC-DC power supply design Experience designing high-speed memory interfaces Experience of regulatory qualification (EMC, Safety) of electronic products Specific experience of Telecommunication/Data Communication hardware products Location: Edinburgh, UK This position is based out of ARKA's Edinburgh campus.
