An exciting opportunity has arisen for a housekeeper to join our highly motivated and dynamic team here at Haven Court. Haven Court is an innovatively designed and purpose-built care home. We specialise in residential and nursing care, dementia care, and re-enablement. We aim to provide the highest quality of health and social care services to residents from South Tyneside. We are conveniently located on Harton Lane, South Shields.
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, reliable, hardworking housekeeper who will work as an integral part of the team ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment at all times. Applicants must have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to work under non-direct supervision, prioritising your own workload. It is necessary to have a flexible approach within this role and be able to respond appropriately to the demands of an ever-changing workload. You will need excellent interpersonal skills, as you will be liaising with residents and other staff throughout the working day.

Main duties of the job
Elements of the role include ensuring the delivery of cleaning, catering, laundry, and minor maintenance, together with other specified tasks to meet individual patient needs, as determined by the Housekeeper Lead.
You will be flexible to meet the needs of the service and be able to meet the requirements of the shift pattern which includes a combination of earlies and long days. The roster covers 7 days of the week and includes rotational weekend working and bank holidays.

Job responsibilities
* Follow agreed work schedules for cleaning to ensure a high level of cleanliness at all times throughout Haven Court premises.
* Undertake daily checks of cleaning and laundry records and prioritise housekeeping, laundry, and domestic duties.
* Monitor stock levels and replenish any goods as necessary.
* Raise and process any requests for supplies for approval by the registered manager.
* Assist in the serving, delivery, and collection of meals to service users, collecting, cleaning, and delivering cutlery and crockery, wash and replenish service user water jugs.
* Empty all waste bins and collection of waste in line with the requirements laid down in the Waste Disposal Policy.
* Manage service user laundry requirements and, where necessary, change and make beds.
* Use appropriate floor machinery, including automatic scrubbers/driers, taking care whilst using machinery to avoid accidents to service users, visitors, and staff.
* Ensure facilities are prepared for the introduction and reception of new service users in accordance with National and local Standards.
* Assist in the management of any Outbreak or infection control concerns, providing enhanced cleaning and terminal cleaning as directed.
* Assist in the formulation and implementation of housekeeping, catering, cleaning, and laundry policies and procedures.
* Utilise resources to best meet the needs of service users.
* Participate in the effective use of information systems.
* Participate in the facilities and services quality assurance programme.
* Ensure the service is attractively presented and odour-free at all times.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Experience
* Previous experience as a housekeeper, launderer, or cleaner.
* Experience of working in line with infection control procedures.
* Experience in working in a care environment with older people and dementia care.
Skills, Knowledge and Attributes
* Effective communication skills, with the ability to communicate where there may be barriers to understanding.
* Ability to follow work schedules, internal processes, and protocols.
* Able to remain calm in challenging situations and work effectively under pressure.
* Knowledge of COSHH.
* Good organisational skills.
* Can-do approach to work.
Other Requirements
* Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team, within a multi-agency framework.
