Job Overview
The Finance Officer will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, producing timely management accounts, handling financial reporting, and ensuring the smooth operation of daily financial administration. The role also involves managing credit control, liaising with suppliers, managing payment runs, and processing payroll efficiently and accurately.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management
1. Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
2. Produce financial reports and analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
2. Daily Financial Administration
1. Process invoices, credit notes, and reconcile supplier statements.
2. Maintain accurate records of financial transactions in the accounting system.
3. Respond to financial queries from internal and external stakeholders.
3. Supplier Liaison
1. Act as the main point of contact for suppliers, ensuring queries are resolved promptly.
2. Ensure supplier accounts are up-to-date and that payments are processed on time.
4. Payment Processing
1. Prepare and execute payment runs, including BACs and manual payments.
2. Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies.
5. Credit Control
1. Monitor and manage customer accounts to ensure timely collection of payments.
2. Chase overdue invoices via email, phone, or other communication channels.
3. Maintain accurate records of customer communication and payment agreements.
4. Produce aged debtor reports and escalate any high-risk debts to management.
5. Work with stakeholders to improve credit terms and reduce debtor days.
6. Payroll Management
1. Process payroll accurately, including deductions, statutory payments, and pensions.
2. Maintain up-to-date payroll records and respond to payroll-related queries.
7. Compliance and Reporting
1. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
2. Assist with VAT returns, audits, and year-end financial processes.
Key Skills and Competencies
1. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and credit control.
2. Proficiency in financial software (e.g., Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks) and MS Excel.
3. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
4. Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
5. Strong communication skills for liaising with suppliers, stakeholders, and debtors.
6. Negotiation skills for effective debt recovery and credit management.
Qualifications and Experience
1. AAT qualification or similar (preferred) or relevant experience in a similar role.
2. Experience with credit control, management accounts, payroll processing, and financial reporting.
3. Familiarity with payment processing, supplier management, and debt collection procedures.

Pay: £27,500.00-£31,500.00 per year
