The Autism Outreach Service provides comprehensive support to children, young people, and families affected by Autism and learning disabilities across Essex.
We prioritise personalised and family-centred care, ensuring that individuals receive the right support at the right time, in a coordinated and community-based manner.
Our team ofAutism Outreach Practitioners plays a vital role in delivering this vision, working closely with children, young people, and their families to empower them and facilitate access to essential services.
The Senior CYP Autism Outreach Practitioner will play a pivotal role in providing support to children and young people with complex needs, coordinating care pathways, and leading a team of Autism Outreach Practitioners.
This role requires strong leadership skills, Autism expertise, and a commitment to promoting the well-being and empowerment of children, young people, and their families.
This service runs Monday to Saturday 8am -8pm .This is a full-time position with the flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
Travel within the region may be required to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.
Main duties of the job
1. Supervise a team of Autism Outreach Practitioners, providing guidance, support, and caseload supervision as needed.
2. Support the ongoing professional development of the team, ensuring that staff have the skills and knowledge needed to deliver high-quality care.
3. Work with a caseload of children and young people to provide personalised support tailored to their needs and preferences.
4. Enable individuals to remain in the community whenever possible and prevent hospital admissions through proactive intervention and support.
5. Engage with the child or young person and their family to develop a personalised, family-owned care plan that reflects their lived experience and preferences.
6. Advocate on behalf of the child or young person and their family, facilitating open and transparent communication with other professionals and service providers.
7. Empower children, young people, and their families to apply solution-focused strategies and develop greater levels of independence.

The Ideal Candidate
14. Relevant undergraduate degree, or evidence of working at degree level.
15. Experience working with children, young people, and families affected by Autism.
16. Strong leadership and delegated management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and manage a team effectively.
17. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
18. Expertise in assessment, intervention, and care coordination for children and young people with complex needs.
19. Commitment to promoting the well-being, empowerment, and rights of children, young people, and families.
20. Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in the field of Autism and neurodiversity.
21. An understanding of safeguarding issues and child protection procedures, identifying risk and when safeguarding protocols needs to be followed.
22. Driving licence and access to vehicle for work purposes
