Principal Firmware Engineer
Location: Edinburg OR Newcastle
Pay: Up to £70p/h (Inside IR35)
Duration: 6-month contract
Responsibilities:
1. The design and development of firmware using VHDL, verifying designs with VHDL or System Verilog, and following a structured firmware design process.
2. Creating innovative VHDL-based FPGA designs.
3. Analyzing system-level documents and deriving detailed firmware requirements.
4. Applying advanced verification techniques using VHDL or SystemVerilog / UVM.
5. Managing the full firmware design lifecycle, ideally within a structured firmware process such as RTCA DO-254 or similar.
Experience Required:
1. Degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering, ideally specializing in FPGA / Digital techniques.
2. Experience with Model Driven Engineering tools including MATLAB and Simulink.
3. Debugging firmware designs and supporting system-related verification and integration.
4. High-speed interface design and integration, including PCIe, DDR3, Ethernet.
5. Proficiency with FPGA technologies from Xilinx, Altera, or Microsemi and their tools.
