The Opportunity
Due to increased project expansion, our client is currently seeking to employ an experienced Piping Calculations Engineer who will be an integral member of the team. The assignment will encompass a pivotal contribution to the project's design phase culmination. Within the piping sector, you will be entrusted with the meticulous design oversight of an expansive piping network, spanning over 100 kilometers, which forms the backbone of the Nuclear Island.
Your duties and responsibilities will be:
1. Ensure the integrity of the pipe network design and its supporting structures by performing detailed piping calculations.
2. Assess HVAC and electrical supports for various load scenarios, including dead weight, thermal expansion, and seismic activity.
3. Experience of finite element analysis software.
4. Knowledge of Python programming is advantageous for developing specialized tools.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
1. Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
2. The role could be a good starting point for someone in the early stages of their career.
3. In-depth understanding of mechanical concepts, including modal and static analysis.
4. Proficiency in mechanical simulations, particularly using finite element methods.
5. Programming proficiency, especially in Python, for the development of computational tools.
6. Experience with CAD software for design and modelling.
7. Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory compliance related to mechanical engineering.
The setting for the role:
Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a nuclear licensed site. These can include nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals and gases, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high-pressure circuits, steam, high noise, and vibration levels. A full site induction will be provided and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
