Tendring Primary Care Network (PCN) has an opportunity available for an experienced and dedicated minor illness nurse, offered on a fixed term contract until 31.03.2027. This is ideally on a full-time basis for 37.5 hours per week, but part-time hours will be considered for the right candidate. This role is predominantly based within a clinic setting at Mayflower Medical Centre, Harwich. The minor illness nurse plays a critical role in the management and treatment of patients presenting with minor illnesses and acute conditions within a general practice setting. You will work alongside GPs, nursing and extended healthcare teams with face-to-face and telephone assessments to provide excellent patient care for minor illnesses. About the Candidate All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience: A relevant nursing degree. Current NMC registration with an active PIN. Recent primary and/or community nursing experience. Experience in first contact minor illness and nurse-led triage. Recent experience, and management of patients with minor illnesses and minor injuries. Skills in management of patients with long-term conditions. Awareness of accountability of own and others roles in a nurse-led service. Knowledge of health promotion strategies. Wider health economy awareness. Knowledge of clinical governance issues in primary care. Leadership skills and m anagement knowledge. About Us Our PCN is located on the north-east Essex coast and comprises of 3 GP practices: Mayflower Medical Centre in Harwich, St James Surgery in Clacton, and Great Bentley Surgery. It has an approximate patient population of 44,000 and it strives on bringing together local health care and resources to deliver high quality, evidence-based and integrated care to all their patients. This role is predominately based at Mayflower Medical Centre in Harwich, a training practice with a patient list size of over 17,500 patients, located within a community hospital.
