Birmingham Children's Hospital is part of Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust and is the UK's leading specialist paediatric centre, caring for sick children and young people between 0 and 16 years of age. In liaison with the Surgical Day Care Sister and Lead Nurse participate in the development and management of day care and 23hr services in Surgery for the Trust. Be responsible for the day to day delivery of care on Surgical Day Care/ or W17 waterfall House.
To use Non-Medical Prescribing skills and assessment skills to provide a nurse led service to children attending the ward for sedated scans. Training for the Non-Medical Prescribing course can be provided if the applicant has not achieved this skill. It is an expectation that the candidate will complete this course as part of their senior role.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for individuals who have excellent clinical and organisational skills and can provide leadership to the nursing team in order to ensure high quality care is delivered to our patients. The successful candidates will be required to take charge of the department on a day-to-day basis and coordinate flow of patients from arrival through to discharge whilst ensuring patient safety and the sustainability of good staff morale.
You will manage the department whilst upholding and promoting the Trust Values. Managerially the successful candidate will be expected to manage a team of staff and guide them in their personal and professional development.
We are committed to developing our nursing staff. We also offer access to PILS, EPALS and management matters. As well as lots of opportunities to develop yourself further in a chosen area via a link worker role.
