The Role The Technical Sales Engineer is a key position within our established Sales Team. The post holder will play an important role in managing customer accounts while driving sales and ensuring exceptional service. Key Responsibilities Key Account Management Account Management: Oversee designated customer accounts, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded. Understand customer needs, technical requirements, and project timelines to ensure satisfaction and foster long-term partnerships. Monitor and forecast designated account activity to identify potential new business opportunities. Manage accounts with regular update calls and visits, identify potential new business opportunities, and foster long-term relationships. Project Coordination and Progress Tracking Collaborate with production, engineering, and operations teams to prioritise and expedite customer projects, ensuring they progress smoothly through the facility. Regularly update customers on project milestones and address any potential delays proactively. Coordinate with scheduling and production to align production capacity with customer timelines for efficient project delivery. Ensure all customer information and any changes are accurately conveyed to all departments and updated on the business’ ERP system. Work closely with the Senior Operations Manager and Production Manager to establish lead times for jobs and communicate these to customers promptly. Quoting and Pricing Prepare detailed and accurate quotations for customer projects, including pricing, materials, and lead times, based on customer specifications. Analyse project requirements to ensure accurate costing and profitable margins, aligning with Dacon’s sales objectives. Maintain up-to-date records of quotes, pricing structures, and project timelines to streamline future quoting processes. Product Quality Inspection and Assurance Conduct final inspections on finished products to confirm they meet Dacon’s quality standards and customer specifications before leaving the facility. Document inspection results, address any quality issues, and collaborate with the department heads to implement corrective actions if necessary. Ensure that all relevant documentation, certifications, and records are in place for customer approval. Customer Satisfaction and Post-Sales Support Address and resolve any post-sales issues, coordinating with production, quality control, and customer service teams to ensure customer satisfaction. Follow up on completed projects to gather customer feedback and identify areas for improvement or future opportunities. Maintain strong customer relationships by proactively offering technical guidance and support, ensuring Dacon remains a preferred supplier. Inform customers of any changes to agreed processes, quality issues, delivery delays, or shortages in a timely manner. Sales and Performance Reporting Track and report on the performance of key accounts, including sales figures, customer satisfaction, and project timelines. Utilise data to identify trends, potential areas for growth, and improvements within the sales and production process. Participate in regular sales meetings, sharing insights and collaborating with the team to improve Dacon’s overall sales strategy. Track follow-up on quotes and customer satisfaction through the business’ ERP system. Skills Proven experience in the metal fabrication sector. Proven experience in technical sales or account management. Strong understanding of technical product knowledge, sales processes and customer relationship management. Ability to analyse data and make informed decisions. Previous experience in ERP systems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. With core working hours of Monday-Thursday 7.30 am to 4.00 pm and Friday 7.30 am to 1.30 pm Office-based 217 hours holiday plus statutory holidays Enhanced holiday entitlement for long service Auto-enrolment pension scheme (after 3 months) On-site parking Salary – £30,000-£35,000 - depending upon experience plus annual profit-related bonus (payable based on the company achieving agreed yearly profit)
