Analysis Business Support Team
The creation of the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) brought together two large analytical communities under one departmental brand, making it one of the largest bodies of analytical expertise in HM Government, covering a broad economic policy agenda across aspects of business environment and support, international trade and investment. The Analysis Business Support Team provide comprehensive and efficient business support solutions to the Director of Analysis and the DBT Analytical Community. Work carried out by the team includes:
• Providing robust secretariat for the Director of Analysis and the Analytical Leadership Team.
• Providing analytical recruitment advice and support to hiring managers.
• Close working with Heads of Profession including the coordination of regular meetings.
• Coordination of risk management, business continuity, financial reporting,
• Workforce planning and resource management including understanding skills gaps and ensuring a robust L&D programme is available.
Leading project management and agile working processes to ensure effective and efficient working practices are established and embedded following a recent organisational redesign.
This is a specialist and high-profile role within the Analysis Business Support Team. The post holder will be working closely with Heads of Professions, Analytical Deputy Directors (DDs), the Director of Analysis as well as other Government Departments to ensure the analysis community within DBT is reputable, impactful and innovative at all times. Analytical professions have specific requirements which the post holder must learn and be confident in articulating to senior leaders and at cross-department forums.
Key duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Vacancy and recruitment management including the on-boarding of new entrant analysts
• Workforce planning and reporting including building and maintaining a robust workforce database Coordinating the annual rotation of junior analysts, both within DBT and across government departments
• Diary management for Analytical DDs
• Secretariat for key stakeholder meetings including the Heads of Profession and Analysis Leadership Team
• Presenting complex information to senior leaders in a way that is clear and easy to understand
• Providing robust and in-depth advice and guidance on analytical recruitment processes
• Acting as the grade manager for analytical degree apprentices
• Working with the Fast Stream teams, both internally and across government departments, to provide a robust graduate programme for junior analysts.
