Job Overview:
As a (Partnership) Academic Manager (PAM), you will be responsible for overseeing the overall academic delivery of your programmes between all ESL sites. The PAM will also ensure that there are adequate resources in place to help successful lesson deliveries through appropriate recruitment of team-members and by liaising with other colleagues, sites or departments.
This role involves direct line management of Programme Leaders and working in collaboration with our City Academic Managers (CAMs) and Deans to help ensure that we are exceeding our university partners’ requirements whilst also keeping abreast with regulatory frameworks. The overall objective being high student success rates together with high satisfaction and progression rates.
Reporting to the Head of Academic Services, you will play a crucial role in formulating reports, monitoring performance metrics, and implementing policies to achieve institutional objectives to satisfy requirements from our university partners as well as regulators such as the OfS.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic Management:
* To oversee all academic activities on programmes including curriculum delivery, student assessment, and adherence to academic standards.
* To monitor the performance of Programme Leaders, Module Leaders and Lecturers to ensure quality teaching and compliance with established academic guidelines.
* To ensure that student inductions across sites are planned and executed appropriately according to company policies and procedures and keeping the relevant records
* To coordinate with relevant teams to collect course progression reports and populate weekly reports on student performance to take appropriate actions
* Preparing monthly reports for the HAS where performance of the programmes/modules and student success are detailed, and appropriate actions taken.
Team Management:
* Work closely with Deans, CAMs & PLs, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback and actions
* Regularly monitor staff performance and report/feedback to relevant departments
* Travel, monitor achievement rates and take appropriate actions within the various ESL sites to ensure consistency in academic delivery on the various programmes
* Attend all relevant meetings and training sessions set to improve performance, communication as well as personal development
* Resolve staff queries and concerns related to academic partnership operations, fostering a collaborative work environment.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
* Regularly monitor programme performance indicators such as retention rates, success, progression rates and academic standards
* Formulate monthly reports on programme performance for presentation to the HAS, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement, together with appropriate actions taken.
Policy Implementation:
* Implement policies and procedures mandated by the partners and regulators to ensure consistency and compliance across academic performance
* Stay updated with regulatory requirements and industry best practices to inform policy decisions.
Assessment Management:
* Ensure timely planning, organisation and administration of assessments, marking, and grade reporting in accordance with academic calendars and partner university requirements
* Conduct moderation and internal assessment boards as necessary to assess student performance and maintain academic integrity.
Education and Qualifications:
* Minimum of a master’s degree in education, business, or related fields
* A PhD in relevant fields is desirable as well as a PGCE
* Proven experience in educational management in similar roles, especially in the WP settings
* Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others
* Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
* Sound knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
* Ability to remain calm and composed during emergencies and busy times
* Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards in the higher education sector
