The Service
Safe and Resilient Communities deliver a range of services that help and support residents. The team operates four community hubs, provides social and welfare support to vulnerable households, advice and support to community organizations, encourages engagement and participation in sports and health improvement programs, and promotes volunteering.
The team works collaboratively with a vast network of partners, including the community and voluntary sector, to provide help and support to residents.
Developing communities to be safe and resilient is a key function of the service. Our experience tells us that by working with and enabling our communities to work together and do things for themselves, we can build upon what is already strong within our neighborhoods and explore new ways of working to make the most of local assets, knowledge, skills, and resources.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Safe and Resilient Communities team and help consolidate and build on the work already taking place to provide better support for veterans living in the County.
As our Veterans Community Co-ordinator, you will focus on developing community-based services to address the inequalities faced by our veteran community.
Do you have lived experience of the Tri Services?
Do you have a passion to support veterans/serving personnel and families?
Would you like to influence and deliver change whilst supporting the veteran communities?
You will be responsible for the development of existing networks and support services to drive locally delivered, effective services for veterans and personnel.
Can you build relationships, instill confidence, and unlock the potential that exists within communities?
Do you have experience delivering and being sensitive to embedding mental health support and suicide prevention?
Are you creative, motivated, and focused on delivering results?
If you said yes to all these questions, then this may be the role for you, and we would really like to hear from you.
Don’t forget to demonstrate how you meet the essential and desirable criteria in the job profile, including lived experience. We will be checking that when we decide who we would like to talk to further about the roles.
This post will be fixed term for 2 years and operate across Northumberland.
For any queries on the role or for an informal discussion, please contact Angela Watt, Programme Delivery Lead.
