An extraordinary opportunity has arisen for an experienced Handyperson to join a dedicated and motivated team maintaining the estate of a prestigious family-owned estate.
The Handyperson will be responsible for a range of maintenance, cleaning, servicing, repair, and installation tasks. Key duties include minor repairs to doors, windows, and general building installations, as well as general installations such as shelving, display boards, flat-pack furniture assembly, and toy construction. The role requires basic plumbing and electrical work, including fixing small leaks, unblocking drains, changing bulbs, cleaning lampshades, and undertaking minor installations and repairs. The Handyperson will also be responsible for supervising external contractors when in-house repairs are not possible or for ongoing estate projects.
Working within a team of eight (including Chief Engineer, Estate Engineer, Estate Maintenance Technician, Painter & Decorator), the successful candidate will have a strong emphasis on high standards, attention to detail, and exceptional craftsmanship. The team takes pride in delivering top-tier maintenance across the estate.
In addition to maintenance duties, the role involves estate cleaning tasks, such as jet washing patios and paths, de-cobwebbing play equipment, glass cleaning, and gutter maintenance. The Handyperson will also manage and clean the estate’s pools and water features, maintain external furniture and play equipment, and ensure regular inspections. Other responsibilities include setting up and removing furniture for client visits, pressure washing external areas, clearing debris, leaves, and bird waste, and managing general waste disposal across the site. The Handyperson must also ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a maintenance role, including practical knowledge of general DIY and repairs. They should be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, with strong time management, organisational, and communication skills. The role requires a proactive, friendly, and enthusiastic approach, with the physical capability to handle manual labour. Fluency in spoken and written English, a positive attitude, and the ability to build good relationships with team members and clients are essential.
This is a full-time position, with working hours from 08:00 to 17:00. Flexibility is essential during the summer months and when the client is in residence. Annual leave entitlement is 28 days, with no additional entitlement to public holidays. The salary offered is up to £32,000 per annum, depending on experience. The candidate must hold a clean UK driving licence and be willing to work across multiple sites as needed.
An enhanced DBS check, which will be covered by the employer, and the signing of a Non-Disclosure Agreement are required as part of the employment terms.
