The Role
As part of the Health, Safety and Environment Team you will support the HSE Manager in managing and monitoring all aspects of Health, Safety and Environment, ensuring ongoing compliance with external regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures.
Key Accountabilities
1. Achieve & maintain recognized standards of professional competence and undertake continuous professional development to ensure the site is best positioned to fulfil its statutory obligations.
2. Roll out communications to the Production Teams advising of any changes or amendments to Sofina Standards and any action required.
3. Attending the Daily Directional Setting meetings in the Factory as the HSE Representative. Completing the KPI board for HSE and holding the department managers to account in completing the required KPI targets.
4. Providing general support to the Department Managers regarding Sofina Standards and compliance.
5. Inputting all Incident data into the Reporting System and ensuring all mandatory information is included.
6. Monitoring completion of the Gemba Walks and High Risk Audits and maintaining the Corrective Action Trackers.
7. Providing assistance when requested, in the formulation of safe systems of work and project specific method statements.
8. Providing specific health, safety & environment training to company employees and others as and when required.
9. Assisting, where required, with the initial implementation of the changes required by changes to safety legislation.
10. Recommending, when requested, to senior management ways to improve working conditions.
11. Supporting in the investigation of all incidents or dangerous occurrences and responsibility of ensuring the full close out and sign off by all relevant parties.
12. Undertaking site inspections/audits, as required by the HSE Manager.
13. Maintain appropriate records and provide statistics to the HSE Manager as required.
14. Maintain the Accident Reporting system ensuring all accidents, property damage and near misses are reported in a timely manner.
15. Attend Health, Safety & Environment Meetings as required.
16. Advise, support and guide the Department Managers on new and existing environment legislation and developments, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards.
17. Conduct environment audits (e.g. noise monitoring, internal/external inspections) against the sites Environment Permit and Environment Management System to ensure compliance.
18. Raise awareness at DDS meetings and to the Heads of Operations on utility usage and initiatives, including our waste duty of care obligations and sustainable practices.
Skills and Experience Required
1. Health, Safety & Environment background in Food Manufacturing or a high-Risk Industry.
2. First class computer and administration skills.
3. Ability to work in an environment of constantly changing demands.
4. Basic knowledge of Health, Safety & Environment Regulations and Legislation.
5. A minimum of 3 years' experience in a HSE role.
6. Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate Minimum or Higher Qualification.
7. IEMA - Environment qualification (or similar)
