East Suffolk Council, East Suffolk House IP12 1RT £30,559 - £33,366 per annum 12-month fixed term 37 hours per week East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work, delivering essential local services and making a real difference to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk. In October 2023, ‘Feel Good Suffolk’ was launched as a partnership of local district and borough Councils, Public Health, and the Health sector. Feel Good Suffolk delivers healthy lifestyle services for residents of Suffolk, focussing on tackling physical inactivity, obesity, and smoking prevalence. We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Communities and Leisure team as a ‘Smokefree Felixstowe Project Officer’. The Project Officer will develop and deliver Feel Good Suffolk Smoking Cessation services in the IP11 postcode, to reduce smoking prevalence and support the long-term goal of achieving a ‘Smokefree’ generation. Your role: The Project Officer will work closely in partnership with internal East Suffolk Council teams, health (including the Integrated Care Board and its associated substructures), Public Health and Communities, local businesses, VCFSE organisations and various others to target key population groups with higher rates of smoking prevalence. This role will work as part of the ‘Feel Good Suffolk’ team in East Suffolk to create new referral pathways to Smoking Cessation support and engage directly with communities less likely to be referred/refer themselves into a stop smoking service, ensuring the Feel Good Suffolk service meets KPIs whilst reducing health inequalities. You will deliver face-to-face and telephone/digital smoking cessation interventions on a 1:1 and group basis to meet the needs of the IP11 community, whilst considering the individual needs of the clients and signposting/referring to other services as required. You will work with local organisations and utilise local assets to provide a place-based offer and to integrate Feel Good Suffolk Stop Smoking services in the community. You’ll be joining an enthusiastic team working in partnership with each other to deliver the best outcomes for the people of Suffolk. What you will need: The successful candidate will be passionate about improving health and wellbeing of the local community. You will have experience of delivering services to individuals from a variety of backgrounds with differing levels of support systems and needs, and will have a strong understanding of wider health determinants. Previous experience of delivery of Smoking Cessation services is an advantage, however full training will be provided as part of the role therefore applicants with no previous experience are still encouraged to apply. If you think you have what it takes to be successful in this role, even if you don’t meet all of the essential requirements, please apply. We would appreciate the opportunity to consider your application. Why work for us? East Suffolk Council is a great place to work and there are lots of benefits our employees can access.
