This role is pivotal in upholding our world-class Commentary collection through effective relationship management, adherence to deadlines, and showcasing strong editorial skills.
This role sits within the UK & Ireland Commentary Editorial team. The Commentary Editorial team facilitates the provision of expert legal interpretation to support the development and maintenance of Thomson Reuters Legal Commentary in all media.
As part of Commentary Editorial, our Publishing team manages the relevant product and content programme for the authored law portfolio, across specific practice areas and a variety of product formats.
This is a hybrid position, requiring in-office work 1-2 days per week at our London Canary Wharf office.
About the Role
As a Publisher you will:
Title and Portfolio Responsibility:
* Build and maintain high-quality relationships with authors, to include commissioning new authors and editions, negotiating contract terms, and ensuring continued engagement with publishing strategy and future development plans.
* Manage third-party content relationships and liaise closely with partner departments to ensure the successful delivery of content.
* Adhere to editorial publishing schedules and quality standards.
* Verify the accuracy and completeness of your work and that of others.
* Input into plans for individual titles and portfolio, including costs, pricing levels, revenues, schedules, and, where appropriate, legal issues.
* Support standardisation and simplification initiatives, including driving through cost savings and seeking ways to maximise the efficiency of the portfolio.
* Maintain and develop legal knowledge and skills to stay current on legal trends and developments.
* Monitor market developments and changing needs to support the creation and updating of content.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that content is kept as current and accurate as possible.
* Support specific online, print, and Proview product workflows, projects, and initiatives where required.

* Understand and prioritise work, demonstrating competence in company-specific systems necessary for job functions.
* Communicate clearly and effectively with all contacts, both within and outside the organisation.
* Work effectively as part of a larger team, participating in team meetings and the employee evaluation process.
* Collaborate with others to problem solve and facilitate successful delivery against goals/OKRs, lending domain expertise and supporting author relations where required.
* Develop knowledge of Thomson Reuters Legal publications and products, as well as those of competitors.
About You
You are a fit for the role of Publisher if your background includes:
* Law degree or qualification (required)
* Publishing experience (preferred)
* Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills.
* Demonstrable commercial awareness and strong results orientation
* The capability to interpret, analyse, organise, and communicate complex legal material effectively.
* Analytical thinking skills with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
* Personable, with strong influencing and negotiation skills
* Technical proficiency including strong Microsoft Office skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
* Ability to both work independently and collaborate with others.
* Attention to detail, strong time management and organisational skills, and the ability to juggle competing deadlines, adapt to changing priorities and deadlines, and escalate where appropriate.
