We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineering Quantity Surveyor or a Civil Engineer looking to progress into a lead Quantity Surveying role.
Andrew Sinclair Ltd is a well established and reputable Civil Engineering Contracting company based on the Orkney Islands. We have been providing construction and public utility services for over 50 years and pride ourselves with high standards of safety, quality and workmanship.
The ideal candidate will have experience with the preparation of civil cost estimates and commercial tenders, from initial project inquiry to tender submission including strong estimating knowledge with civils, infrastructure, transport, highways and utilities services, and can manage projects as-and-when-required.
Applicants should have the ability to work to tight deadlines and show consistent time management skills. Have experience with many types of contract agreements, competent in the use of MS Office, Office software and estimating systems, with a confident approach to work and good attention to detail. Civil engineering and building industry work-based experience will be highly desired, and experience in contract management, liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and general managerial duties would be an advantage. A driving licence is essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage all financial elements of the projects, ensuring strict adherence to budgets and quality standards.
* Oversee contract administration, including negotiations, compliance, and dispute resolution.
* Provide strategic commercial insights to optimise project profitability and minimise financial risk.
* Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to achieve project goals.
* Undertake cost analysis and forecasting to support informed decision-making.
* Support and mentor junior quantity surveyors, encouraging their career progression.
* Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure contracts are executed efficiently and on time.
* Prepare and deliver detailed financial reports, including monthly assessments and payment applications.
* Identify opportunities for cost savings to enhance overall project efficiency.
* Maintain accurate and thorough financial records and documentation for all contracts.
