We have an exciting opportunity for a Stem Cell Transplant Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our cancer services team based at Royal Marsden Hospital Haemato-Oncology Unit in Sutton.
As a registered nurse who has acquired additional specialist knowledge and experience in stem cell transplant you will use your clinical expertise to ensure co-ordination of the care of patients undergoing transplant, providing a seamless service for patients and their families throughout the pathway. In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team you will provide support, assessment and education for this group of patients whilst overseeing their care as keyworker. This post will be predominantly based in the post transplant setting, with cross cover in the pre transplant setting when required for service cover.
It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC and that you have substantial experience in a cancer nursing role within stem cell transplant.
There are plentiful opportunities for professional development, including internal and external courses, national study days and national/international conferences. The CNS team cover a week day service, with opportunities for flexible working.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be expected to demonstrate a higher level of practice in both their direct care of patients and in their ability to plan and develop services to support cancer care. Through the key skills of leadership, innovation, and clinical expertise they will facilitate and deliver care which is patient centered, delivered with compassion, safe, and effective.
The CNS is a core member within the multidisciplinary care team (MDT) and through demonstration of these higher level skills they will work collaboratively with clinicians and service managers to promote, develop, review and redesign the relevant services which are responsive and tailored to patient’s needs. This post specifically will be responsible for stem cell transplant co- ordination for patients and caring for this group of patients in the post transplant setting

• To assist in the provision of professional and clinical leadership and expertise in the care of the patient under your care, acting as a resource and consultant to provide information and support to patients, carers and staff.

• To liaise effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary health care team so as to achieve a synchronised specialist service.
• To provide informal and formal teaching, for patients, staff and carers as relevant e.g. academic courses provided by The Royal Marsden School.
• To organise stem cell transplants and be a keyworker for pre transplant care.
• To be a key worker for post transplant patients for the Trust.
