Typical project values range from £50,000 to £5 million. We have an opportunity for an organised and professional Documentation Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis. Main Duties The Documentation Engineer role supports the delivery of high value capital projects. The position reports functionally to the Documentation Manager and operationally to Project Managers as required. Responsibilities include overseeing and policing the structure of the project documentation as defined by client specifications. Support is provided to project teams ensuring all the relevant documentation is understood and processed correctly for the life cycle of the project. This includes customer templates and document formatting. Responsibilities Review component documentation against purchase specification. Act as the main contact for clients in regards to documentation. Maintain the Master Document Register. Manage the project database, as per company procedures. Responsible for incoming and outgoing documentation. Review document formats, numbering and naming protocols. Check sub-supplier component parts and documentation as defined by engineering. Assist the Project Manager with collation, formatting and issue of installation operating manuals, manufacturing record books and despatch dossiers as defined by the client specifications. Manage final documentation in order for project completion. Archive project documentation in accordance with company procedures. Requirements You will have worked within an engineering background and be familiar with interpreting engineering drawings in conjunction with package P&ID`s in order to identify components and allocated tag numbers. Produce comprehensive spreadsheets that will clearly identify component hazardous area classification and certification. Knowledge of hazardous area compliance would be advantageous. An understanding of ATEX, NORSOK, CSA and IECEx would be beneficial, but not essential. Attention to detail. Possess a strong engineering background. An engineering qualification would be advantageous (ONC & HNC or Degree in Mechanical/Production Engineering). Experience in a similar role, preferably in energy process applications. Liaison with project team, build manager and sub-suppliers during the life cycle of the project. Be able to interpret and respond to a wide range of technical specifications and directives. Assist as required with component purchase order technical requirements in respect to project documentation. Excellent IT Skills conversant with MS Windows, Office packages and documentation systems. Competent in the use of manipulating large documents using Adobe Acrobat. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Aware of Quality and Environmental Systems and the ability to work to the expected requirements of these systems.
