Job summary The Queen Victoria Hospital is one of the largest plastic surgery units in the country, serving a population of over 4 million people in the South East and for certain services, nationally. The Burns Service provides acute and reconstructive care for the population of Kent, Surrey, Sussex and South London. It is the sole provider of such care in the region. It is part of the wider London & South East Burns Network. In addition to treating 2000 adults and children with acute burns it also has a multidisciplinary scar and reconstruction service for those patients who need expert scar treatment. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to join our Burns team, as part of our new Laser service which manages burn scarring. You will be patient focused and willing to learn all aspects of burns and skin loss wound management to ensure our patients are seen in a timely, friendly environment. The Laser service is a new service currently in development and you will be provided with all the relevant training for this aspect of the role. Main duties of the job At the Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, an exciting opportunity has arisen within our burns team for a Band 3 Health Care Assistant. This specialist department assesses and treats minor to moderate burns and skin loss injuries, whilst managing follow-ups and admissions from external referrers. We are also developing a new laser service for the treatment of burns scarring. An enthusiastic and self-motivated person is required to provide clinical healthcare support to the staff nurses within our burn's outpatients department and the Advanced Clinical Practitioners who deliver the laser service.
