Senior Benefits Specialist – onsite in Birmingham, AL
The Senior Benefits Specialist is responsible for managing, administering, and optimizing the company’s benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement, and wellness initiatives. You’ll play a key role in educating employees on benefits, providing expert guidance, and ensuring the smooth operation of all benefits-related processes. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire position!

Compensation: $70,000 – $75,000
What you’ll be doing (duties of this position):
* Administering health, dental, vision, retirement (401(a), pensions), wellness programs, and other employee benefits
* Providing expert advice on benefits-related inquiries and ensuring employees are well-informed.
* Handling benefits reporting and legal requirements (e.g., 1095s, ERISA, ACA, HIPAA compliance).
* Collaborating on the integration of paper files into the new HRIS system, ensuring smooth data transition and timely deadline management.
* Managing and optimizing benefits processes and supporting the Junior-Level Benefits Specialist.
What you’ll need to be considered (requirements):
* Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
* SHRM-CP certification required.
* 7+ years of experience in benefits administration.
* In-depth knowledge of employee benefits laws and regulations (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA).
* Experience in working with Pensions.
* Comfortable working with paper files during the transition to a new HRIS system (Workday).
* Strong sense of urgency, drive, and proactive thinking. Ability to work independently and think critically.
What could set you apart:
* Certification in benefits administration (e.g., CEBS).
* Experience with HRIS systems, especially Workday.
* Previous experience working in government or public sector organizations where attention to compliance and legal requirements is crucial.
