Applications are invited for the above full time post for this 660 bed acute hospital serving a local population of approximately 400,000.
The main responsibilities of the Locum Consultant will be as follows:
· Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the care of all patients presenting to the hospital
· To share with colleagues, the management of Obstetric and Gynaecological patients requiring admission
· To undertake duties as defined within agreed job plan
· Teaching and training of intermediate grade and junior medical staff, nursing staff and medical students
· To undertake duties as defined within the agreed job plan
· To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning clinical governance and audit
· To have responsibility for and actively participate in continuing professional development (CPD)
· To participate in on-call rota providing specialist and timely advice
This is a post for a Locum Consultant Gynaecologist with a special interest in Urogynaecology, to commence as soon as possible. Whilst the focus of the post is Urogynaecology, the post holder will be expected to provide a very significant part of the acute gynaecology consultant service and make a contribution towards the consultant delivery suite rota. It is expected that the post holder, once appointed, will work in partnership with the existing sub specialty trained urogynaecologist. This post is likely to evolve in the future with the growing Urogynaecology work and in line with the requirements specified by the British Society of Urogynaecology (BSUG).
The appointee will be based at Luton & Dunstable University Hospital (but may be asked to work on the Bedford Hospital site also) and run gynaecology and gynaecological 2WW clinics, hysteroscopy clinics, labour wards, Gynaecology MDT, participate in the on-call rota andrun theatre sessions. We are happy to supportthe appointee with Colposcopy clinics, if they have Colposcopy interests. It is expected that the post holder, once appointed, will work in partnership with the existing Urogynaecologist at Luton and Dunstable hospital and expected to work some sessions at Milton Keynes hospital.
