Overview of Role Theravada Solutions, a digital and technology specialist in the Retail and Hospitality sector, is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Engineering to lead our Engineering department. This individual will oversee all engineering functions, drive the execution of our technical vision and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality IT services and solutions to our clients. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with a strong technical background, proven management experience and a passion for innovation in the IT services space. This role is office based, supporting customers throughout the UK and Ireland. The scope of Theravada’s engineering activities includes, but is not limited to Digital Signage (IP rated screens, window displays, digital menu boards etc), Drive-Thru Solutions (audio, cabling, induction loops, speaker posts etc), Video Walls, POS, CCTV, Networking (routers, switches, APs etc), Network Cabling & Containment. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy: * Develop and execute the engineering strategy aligned with the company's goals and growth plans. * Lead and scale a high-performing engineering team across multiple disciplines. * Collaborate with executive leadership on long-term planning and product/service roadmaps. Project & Delivery Management: * Oversee delivery of all engineering projects, ensuring quality, timeliness and budget adherence. * Implement engineering best practices and continuous improvement processes. * Ensure effective resource allocation and capacity planning across concurrent projects. Team Development & Culture: * Recruit, mentor and retain top engineering talent. * Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous learning. * Implement performance management and professional development programs. Stakeholder Collaboration: * Work closely with internal teams to align engineering deliverables with business needs. * Engage with key clients and stakeholders to gather feedback and ensure service excellence. Experience Required Qualifications: * 10 years of experience in IT services engineering roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity. Technical Skills: * Minimum 3 years overall experience of onsite customer installations. * Experience in configuration, installation and support of hardware products. * Experience in installation of network cabling and containment. * Experience working on live construction sites. * Strong troubleshooting skills, problem solving and root cause analysis. * Computer literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft products. * Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) card would be desirable. Leadership & Management Skills: * Strong track record of building and scaling engineering teams and managing cross-functional teams. * Excellent project management, budget planning and stakeholder communication skills. * Strategic thinker with the ability to balance short-term execution and long-term vision. Person Specification * Confident and professional manner, excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Numerate and literate. * Positive attitude with a 'can do’ approach. * Ability to remain calm in a fast paced and pressured environment. * Reliable, good work ethic and willingness to learn. * Must possess a full driving licence. * Flexibility in working hours and travel will be required to customer sites. The successful candidate should have relevant work related experience and have attained a good all-round standard of education. The working hours are normally Monday to Friday, between 09:00-17:30, however it is expected that the successful candidate will be able to accommodate changes to their working hours, as needed
