In this role, you will provide leadership, direction and technical expertise to minimise EHS related risk for our Eye and Shardlow sites, whilst working in conjunction with other UK sites.
As an EHS Manager at LabCorp you will:
1. Oversee EHS operations for the Eye facility and manage up to 3 reports across our Eye and Shardlow facilities
2. Manage and administer environmental, health, and safety programs to meet regulatory requirements, corporate initiatives and company objectives.
3. Promote a positive safety culture throughout the site organization.
4. Partner with site management to ensure applicable EHS related goals (accident rates, training participation, etc.) and regulatory requirements (assessments, plans, training, etc.) are satisfied.
5. Perform applicable supervisory duties for the EHS Department, including a full range of recruitment and performance evaluation activities, schedules work, prepares training plans, and guide career development.
6. Provide advice and appropriate assessment and prevention of EHS related risks, including but not limited to Biological Agents and Genetically Modified Organisms, Chemical Safety, Waste Management, Radiation Safety, Fire and Life Safety, Ergonomics, Noise, Air Emissions, Hazardous Material Spill Prevention, Emergency Action Response, Office Safety, Fleet Safety, Personal Protective Equipment
7. Prevention of work related injuries and illnesses, ensuring that accidents are reported, reviewed and assessed to identify possible remedies and remedies are effectively implemented; that applicable governmental agency notification is made
What we need from you:
8. Bachelor’s degree in Life or Physical Sciences
9. Extensive experience working in a laboratory or research and development setting or similar chemical or high hazard industry
10. EHS experience from the above industries
11. Professional certification in Health and Safey and Biosafety.
12. Occupational Hygiene and Environmental qualification would be desirable but not essential.
13. Strong communication, people and presentation skills.
14. Ideally, you will hold professional memberships, CertIOSH, BSP Level 1/ RSB Registered Biorisk Specialist
