About The Role
As an SEN Support, you will provide individualised assistance to students with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties and other learning disabilities. Your role will involve working closely with teachers, SENCOs and support staff to ensure each pupil receives tailored support in both classroom and one-to-one settings.
Responsibilities Of a SEN Support
1. Assist students with Special Educational Needs in accessing the curriculum.
2. Provide one-to-one and small-group support, adapting resources and teaching methods as required.
3. Foster a safe, inclusive and encouraging learning environment.
4. Support students in developing their social, emotional and communication skills.
5. Implement EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) and work in collaboration with SENCOs and teaching staff.
6. Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents when necessary.
7. Manage challenging behaviours using positive behaviour strategies.
Job Requirements Of The SEN Support
1. Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is desirable.
2. A relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant Diploma, or equivalent) is advantageous.
3. A caring, patient and adaptable nature with excellent communication skills.
4. Knowledge of SEN strategies and a willingness to undertake further training.
5. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and external agencies.
6. Have an updated CV (with two relevant references from the last two years and covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
