The Role
As an Engineering Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role sits within our Cavendish Nuclear business, from decommissioning redundant nuclear facilities to supporting the operation and build of nuclear power plants. Our role in Cavendish Nuclear is to clean up the nuclear legacy and create a world where nuclear plays a key contribution in protecting our nation, ensuring security of energy supply and meeting our net zero commitments.
Day to day, you’ll lead the planning and management of multi-discipline projects involving the coordination and integration of multi-discipline tasks. This role leads the engineering team to deliver technical solutions to budget, targets, and estimating the engineering scope for Projects from concept design to full Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC).
Effective management of multi-discipline teams to ensure timely & efficient delivery of engineering work to meet customer agreed scope. Promote effective co-operation across Engineering and other functional teams.
Ensure effective management of the customer, including liaison and relationship development with existing and new customers, to aid the development of business, resolution of technical and delivery issues, and ensure that the customer is fully briefed and informed of progress.
Technical management of the engineering output to ensure delivery of technical solutions in line with agreed technical scope. Ensure application of highest standards for health and safety in the immediate area of responsibility and ensure all team members across engineering cooperate with respect to company standards about matters on health, safety and environment, ethics, and behaviours.
Manage resource demands and development of capability skills to match needs of future workload and coach and mentor members of the team. Ensure project and technical audits and reviews are planned & executed in order to impart learning and experience as appropriate and in line with agreed standards.
Maintain knowledge of Industry best practice, promote a culture of Engineering best practice, and provide leadership and assist in driving cultural development and change.
Essential Experience of the Engineering Manager
1. Demonstrable management experience, including experience in managing multi-discipline teams to deliver analysis activities on a range of project types.
2. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with other disciplines.
Qualifications for the Engineering Manager
1. Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in relevant engineering discipline with significant demonstrable experience.
2. The successful candidate must be able to achieve baseline security clearance level for this role.
