The role will report into the production manager and will hold responsibility for ensuring the smooth running of production operations while on shift. The ideal candidate will have experience around BRC standards or similar regulations.
The role will follow a continental style shift pattern, 3 days on, 3 days off- days and nights.

The job you will do:
* Lead by example, ensuring a safe and efficient workplace is always maintained, reporting to your manager any issues or matters that may arise including near misses, tripping hazards etc.
* To take full responsibility of the quality of product that is produced within the shift in line with the Companies quality systems, processes and procedures, and to ensure all quality records are maintained.
* To monitor the production output of the shift against the production plan, targeting the achievement of planned volume per machine per shift.
* To control and measure production wastage for each shift, particularly during changeovers and design changes, minimizing wastage wherever possible.
* Carry out all checks, audits, paperwork and line clearance required by the company BRC/Quality system.
* Liaise and coordinate with support functions to progress issues concerning production planning and resource/skill allocation to ensure orders produced on time.
* Complete and monitor IT manufacturing system, ensuring accurate information from all relevant shift personnel.
* Have a proactive approach to production, identifying and proposing changes which can lead to improvements in terms of efficiency, wastage, ways of working, quality, safety, housekeeping and the production environment.
* Manage, develop and motivate direct reporting staff, identifying training requirements.
* Where employees inform you that they are unable to attend work, re-allocate members of your team, depending on the priorities of the production plan.
* Where appropriate or necessary, issue and record in diary informal warnings to any team members where there is clear evidence of absence, continued non-performance or attitude issues, reporting to HR and your Manager the issues.
* At the end of each shift provide relevant reports on downtime, wastage and output.
* Liaise with the other Shift Managers regarding your holidays/absence, to ensure that all share the cover required.
* Cover the operating of machines as and when required and provide support to operators throughout the shift.
About you:
* The suitable candidate should be dynamic, self-driven, results orientated, and above all have a positive ‘can do’ attitude with a clear focus on delivering good quality products first time.
* We are looking for a highly organised, natural forward planning, logical, structured thinker and motivator who can critically assess situations and act on them.
* Have a minimum of 3 years proven working in a high mass volume manufacturing environment as a Shift Supervisor or within an equivalent capacity,
* You should be able to read/write and communicate in English as all reports, company policies and procedures are communicated in English
