Joining Furbnow as an Architectural Technologist is an incredible opportunity to put your technical design skills to work in delivering the Net Zero agenda. You'll be integral to our mission of transforming homes to be more energy efficient, comfortable, and sustainable.
As our Architectural Technologist, you'll work closely with our Project Delivery team to support homeowners throughout their retrofit journey by:
* Creating technical designs and specifications for retrofit measures
* Developing comprehensive design solutions that improve energy efficiency in existing homes
* Ensuring designs comply with building regulations and industry standards
* Supporting our Retrofit Coordinators with your technical expertise
* Helping homeowners understand the technical aspects of their retrofit projects
✔️ What your new job will be:
Technical Design & Documentation
* Create detailed technical designs and specifications for retrofit measures
* Develop holistic design solutions to improve energy efficiency in existing buildings
* Produce accurate and comprehensive construction details for contractors
* Ensure designs comply with building regulations and industry standards
Project Support
* Work closely with our Retrofit Coordinators to develop design solutions
* Review and interpret property assessments to inform design decisions
* Collaborate with contractors to resolve technical issues during implementation
* Support the development of whole-home retrofit plans
Technical Knowledge Application
* Apply principles of building physics to develop effective retrofit solutions
* Identify potential unintended consequences of retrofit measures and design appropriate mitigations
* Keep up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in sustainable construction
* Contribute to the development of our technical standards and specifications
* Apply PAS 2035 principles to design work (training provided if needed)
Client Communication
* Create clear visual representations of proposed retrofit measures for client understanding
* Support client communications regarding technical aspects of their projects
* Translate technical information into accessible content for homeowners
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who:
* Has a degree in Architectural Technology or similar discipline
* Holds membership of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT)
* Has experience in residential construction detailing and technical design
* Possesses excellent technical design skills and proficiency with CAD software
* Demonstrates strong knowledge of UK building regulations and construction methods
* Shows understanding of building physics and fabric performance
* Has experience in or knowledge of retrofit and energy efficiency measures (desirable)
* Possesses excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
* Communicates technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
* Has a genuine passion for sustainability and helping homeowners decarbonise their homes
