Job Summary
Experienced data protection professional needed to provide expertise and practical, business-minded advice and support to the global data protection programme. This position will assist the Global Head of Data Privacy (based in the U.S.) in advancing the global privacy program across EMEA and specific regions in Asia. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
1. Provide data protection guidance for UK&I teams, and align with the Global Data Privacy team on the creation and review of data compliance-related policies, procedures, processes, and internal controls.
2. Partner with stakeholders across Marketing, Sales, IT, Information Security, Legal and Procurement to offer practical support and advice on data protection matters.
3. Work in partnership with the Global Data Privacy team and other risk and assurance functions to provide guidance and support for the creation and implementation of global strategic goals and initiatives.
4. Handle Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs).
5. Manage intake and review of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) informing stakeholders of the risks, and ensuring completion of any risk-mitigation recommendations.
6. Ensure any necessary Legitimate Impact Assessments are conducted.
7. Establish procedures and processes for Data Privacy by Design.
8. Develop regional data protection trainings as needed.
9. Assess vendor privacy compliance with relevant stakeholders.
10. Serve as the data protection resource for EMEA, and assist in responding to queries and data incidents.
11. Work closely with local Data Protection Officers, providing data compliance support as needed.
Essential Attributes
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
2. Minimum of 4 years managing data protection compliance matters for a global company, with particular experience in conducting risk assessments, data processing inventories, and ensuring proper data handling practices within the company.
3. Strong knowledge of global data protection laws (including GDPR and UK DP laws) and key industry frameworks (e.g. ISO standards).
4. Ability to work autonomously, issue-spot and provide incisive, practical and business-focused advice. Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic orientation. Ability to balance strategic and tactical issues.
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to facilitate workshops and training and to clearly and concisely articulate complex concepts and to interact with stakeholders of all levels.
6. Team player who welcomes responsibility and engagement.
7. Adaptable to changing needs, priorities and deadlines.
Desirable Skills and Experience
1. Exceptional organizational and project management skills and the ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and manage workloads to meet deadlines in a challenging and fast-paced environment.
2. Sufficient degree of technology literacy and familiarity with technology-based compliance systems in particular.
3. Data Protection certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM or CIPT are a plus.
4. Willingness to travel as required (less than 10%).
